Morning Mystery

"Riya, chai" said a sweet voice coming in my room.

"hmmmm" came out a morning grunt from my mouth, "Good morning, mom," I said with a smile on my face, eyes still shut.

"Good morning." mom said as she put the tea down on my bedside table where my mini-laptop had been lying in sleep mode.

"Thanks for the tea, mom," somehow, I always manage to open my eyes by the time I say thank you.

"hmmm..." she acknowledged my thanks but sort of dosed off to the window as if it was pulling her to look out from it, even though it was closed.

She reached the window and opened the curtains. "Aghhhhhhhh, I'm gonna go blind!" i exclaimed shutting my as the sun's bright light rays entered my room through the window. How I hated my window being in that direction.

As soon as I put the blanket over my head again, there was a beep from my cell phone.

"Kiska phone hai?" mom asked

"what? phone call?" I threw the blanket off of my face and picked up my phone that lay beside my mini-laptop and looked at the text message that I had received, "No, it wasn't a phone call. It's a text message from Mona." I told mom as she had asked whose phone call it was. She sometimes cannot differentiate between the ringtone of my call and that of the text message as they're both almost the same, I think.

She sighed and left the room expressionless. I just smirked at her figure leaving the room, and she knew exactly why I had done that without even looking back to see what my reaction would be after her sighing. She never likes it when I get 'too' technical with her, especially when it comes to phones and laptops. I waste, according to her, too much time on the Internet and texting. Addiction, you see! ;)

I grabbed the tea she had put beside my mini-laptop and took a sip of it. HEAVEN!!!!! I was in Heaven! Mom makes the best morning tea. But when it comes breakfast tea, something goes wrong with the magic which she adds to the morning tea. Maybe she doesn't like making tea for us for breakfast....mainly because our so-called 'breakfast' is around 11 or so. Currently, it's 9am in the Spongebob Squarepants digital clock on the study desk in the room.

WAIT! WHAT? Spongebob Squarepants digital clock?

Yea, don't worry. You're not drunk! You read it right! I said Spongebob Squarepants digital clock. A 20-year old girl has a Spongebob digital clock in her room. I also happen to have a 2 feet huge yellow Spongebob that sits in the corner along with the other soft toys on the shelf which only holds my soft toys.

I see Wuddles! My puppy! Oh, sorry! My soft toy, not an actual puppy. After admiring the cuddly puppy, I sipped my tea once again.... Heaven! As soon as I removed my lips from the cup after sipping, the phone's bell rang. This time it was a phone call. I picked up to see whose call it was, so that if it'd been an unwanted call, I would've just left it ringing, but I picked up my Samsung SGH D807 with excitement and answered, "Monaaaaaaaa!!!!" emphasizing on the 'a' as if I were shouting her name in a crowded public gathering.
"fine, and how are you?" I asked her as all my excitement vanished slowly. "Oh yea, sure. Of course I can meet you. What time and where?" I asked after she asked me whether I could meet her ASAP.
"ummmm...," I replied after she said to meet at 2 pm at the Cocoaplex, as if I were actually recalling my schedule for today to see whether I had something else scheduled at that time, "yea sure. Of course I'll be there at 2 pm at the Cocoaplex." I assured her about the place.
"yup. No problem." I replied to her thanks. Although, I couldn't actually figure out whether she was saying thanks with so much appreciation filled in her - which is rarely seen - or was she about to cry with her squeaky voice. I started to get worried at this point. First, the message about whether I was free or not then the phone call to meet at 2pm at the Cocoaplex. I had to ask what was going on.

"Hey, is everything alright?" I asked softly.
After swiftly telling me 'I'll tell you then,' she reassured about the meeting and I reconfirmed her and said bye. After she said bye, I hung up and put the phone down at the bedside table and picked up my tea once again. I took a sip and lay on the bed on my back, took a deep sigh and started staring at the ceiling. I blinked after staring for a long time - must have been about 15-20 seconds of stare without blinking - only to get tears in my eyes.

I didn't know whether these tears were the lack of blinks for the 15-20 seconds or the recurring thoughts in my mind that had been running then.
